A handheld, USB-powered spirometer with dedicated software for lung function testing.
A spirometer measures how much air a person breathes out and in, and how quickly. During a test, the person breathes through a mouthpiece attached to the handset, following a healthcare professional's instructions.
A turbine inside the handset records the airflow. The connected software turns these readings into measured values and graphs, such as Flow-Volume and Volume-Time curves, which the healthcare professional reviews.
Spirometry plays an important role in confirming airflow obstruction in patients where COPD is suspected. Healthcare professionals consider symptoms such as persistent breathlessness, chronic cough or sputum production alongside relevant risk factors and clinical history.
A key measurement is the FEV1/FVC ratio. In the appropriate clinical context, a post-bronchodilator FEV1/FVC below 0.70 confirms persistent airflow obstruction consistent with COPD.
Spirometry results should always be interpreted alongside the patient's wider clinical assessment.
The Imbue Lung Screening Spirometer supports FVC testing, pre- and post-bronchodilation testing and Flow-Volume and Volume-Time graphs, providing healthcare professionals with practical lung-function data in everyday practice.
The spirometer software runs on a Windows PC or laptop and records every test in real time. It displays Flow-Volume and Volume-Time graphs, calculates lung age and compares results against built-in predicted equations.
Results can be auto-interpreted, compared pre- and post-bronchodilation, and tracked as trends over time. Doctors can add notes and print single or all curves.
